Styling woven trays for product photos
Practical photo set-ups that show weave, size and use, for your web shop and marketplace listings.

Woven trays sell on texture and use. A photo on white shows the shape, but shoppers also want to see the weave up close, how big the tray is and what goes on it. These set-ups cover all three.
Shoot round trays from above
A top-down shot shows the full circle, the weave pattern and any inlay in the base. Place a teapot or cup off-centre so the base still shows.
Show size with familiar objects
A mug, a glass or a small vase tells the shopper the size at a glance. A hand or a person in the frame does the same and adds a sense of use.
Use side light
Warm light from a window at one side brings out the relief of the weave. Flat light from the front makes woven surfaces look printed.
Show handles at an angle
A three-quarter view shows the handle height and how the tray is carried. Add one close-up of the handle joint, because shoppers look for strength there.
Keep props simple
Two or three tones are enough: the natural fibre, a cream or white, and one accent such as green leaves or yellow flowers. Too many props hide the product.
